Lectric XPeak E-Bike Review: Affordable All-Terrain Performance for City and Trail

2024-03-25The market of high-power, fat-tire electric bikes is one of the most competitive, with almost all direct-to-consumer brands selling this type of e-bike.
Lectric’s newest model, the XPeak, is the brand’s first attempt at this style. It will compete with popular models like the Rad Power Bikes RadRover, Ride1UP Rift, and Aventon Aventure.2.
With an 80 mm travel suspension fork, fat tires, and a powerful motor, the XPeak can handle light mountain trails, steep inclines, and terrain like snow, sand, and mud.
This Lectric XPeak review will cover the key specs, pros and cons, and take a closer look at the main characteristics. From there, we’ll provide our “Ride or Pass” verdict so you can decide if this is the right bike for you.

Lectric XPeak E-Bike: An Affordable All-Terrain E-Bike With Tons of Power
In typical Lectric fashion, the base-spec XPeak is significantly cheaper than the competition. Of course, at this price, there are some sacrifices, which we will cover below.
Regardless, the quality of Lectric e-bikes has repeatedly proven trustworthy and their bikes are highly regarded in the industry.
The Lectric XPeak e-bike has the company’s distinct rectangular tubing and a grey finish. They’re not the most attractive bikes, but style typically isn’t a priority in the budget segment.
The Lectric XPeak offers affordability, trusted quality, and versatile terrain handling, though it trades off style and initial accessories.
The base model is sold without a rack and fenders, but these are easily added, alongside a range of other accessories for turning the XPeak into an off-road workhorse or comfort commuter.
An 80mm travel suspension fork and 4-inch tires will provide comfort and traction on most terrains, and the 1310W peak power motor will make light work of hills. All of this means you can be confident taking this bike anywhere but proper mountain bike trails.

A Simple Frame With Clean Integration and Stable Geometry
The XPeak electric bike isn’t fully optimized for off-roading, but the long wheelbase, low-slung geometry, and upright position mean it’s stable and easy to handle on non-technical off-road terrain.
Lectric’s frames are also known for their durability and strength, and the XPeak can support up to 330 lb, including rider and cargo.
This is the most advanced frame design we’ve seen from Lectric. The 14Ah battery is seamlessly integrated into the downtube and the cable management is excellent, making for a tidy finish.
Another reason to consider the XPeak is that you can choose between a step-over or step-through frame, which many other best electric fat bikes don’t offer.
The black and grey step-over is suitable for taller riders from 5’7″ to 6’5″, and the white step-through fits 5’2″ to 6’3″.
Impressive Power Output But Underwhelming Range
Again, one of the standout characteristics of this model is the e-bike system. Lectric chose a high-power motor that’s much quieter than their previous models. The XPeak’s top speed is still 28 mph, which makes it a class 3 e-bike. However, you can adjust the power and top speed to fit all three classes.
The system also uses the brand’s Pedal-Assist Wattage Regulation (PWR) programming. This means the motor will assist up to a specific power at each assistance level instead of limiting each level to a given speed. This method results in a smoother ride quality with fewer aggressive accelerations.
The Lectric XPeak distinguishes itself with a quieter, high-power motor and adjustable top speed for class 1, 2, or 3 e-bike classifications, offering smoother, regulated pedal-assist and a competitively sized battery.
The Lectric XPeak battery has 14Ah (672 Wh) of juice, which is slightly smaller than other all-terrain fat bikes. However, this is a necessary sacrifice when pricing the bike so competitively.
A Minimalist Spec With Plenty of Customization Options
At just $1,299, Lectric had to make some hard decisions about the spec. The most important components on an all-terrain bike like this are the fork, brakes, drivetrain, and tires.
For the XPeak, Lectric chose a set of powerful hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors. These are necessary to stop a heavy Class 3 e-bike safely.
Another solid inclusion is the RST Renegade fork with 80mm of travel. This component makes up a significant part of the bike’s price and will stand up to the demands of light trails. This fork has a thru-axle for increased stability and durability. However, the soft coil spring requires some adjustment for heavier riders.
Along with the suspension fork, the knobbly Chaoyang tires give this bike its off-road prowess, but it’s let down by the Shimano Tourney 7-speed drivetrain, which won’t last very long if you ride off-road regularly.

Our Verdict: Ride or Pass?
The Lectric XPeak electric bike is an impressive offering in the entry-level all-terrain fat tire segment.
If you’re looking for a cheap ride that’s both a capable commuter and light trail bike, you should consider the Lectric XPeak.
The level of components and Lectric’s solid reputation mean this electric bike competes with more expensive models, such as the RadRover 6 Plus and Aventure.2. The overall quality of the components is also impressive, given the price.
At the time of writing, the XPeak is only available for pre-order (shipping in January 2024), so a conclusion on long-term performance and durability isn’t possible. However, it undoubtedly earns a ‘ride’ verdict from us.
